If there were ever a question of which Washington legislator most deserves to be deprived of another term, one who most deserves recall for manufacturing defects and for ignoring time-between-overhaul checkups on sanity, there can be only one answer to that question:
Madame Pelosi
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
This radioactive ‘madame’ of the Congress is one of the most deserving. She would be a toxic asset except for the fact that she is no asset at all. And to think that she stands third in line behind the glib but substance-less President and the bozo who has perpetual foot-in-mouth disease….
Oh those three are definitely very nice people (to know). They would be just as nice and friendly and hospitable and caring and care-giving as they are (or aren’t) now – even if they were Republicans. It’s just that the President, bless his heart, has historically evaded every vote on contentious issues in his short time as legislator at the state and federal levels (voting ‘present’). He once more evaded taking personal responsibility when it came to a policy of bailing water INTO the sinking economy, as he asked Madame Pelosi to do the dirty work that HE should have been doing to institute HIS change. But, as he had attempted to make us believe there was a centrist philosophy hiding within him during his campaign, it was she, the ever-serving mistress of the zealous left, who prostrated herself to do his bidding. She was happy to do it. She’s been fantasizing how to irresponsibly increase ‘social’ issue spending (her home state of California is virtually bankrupt) and how to engineer a power grab that would create a bureaucratic nanny state in Washington for years! She cares not for the Constitution, nor for truly effective education (e.g., the District of Columbia), and she must gloat with the thought of going to the front of the long line of sick and injured who await medical care under her ludicrous and hyperexpensive Federal health care system. The facts that she has a defective memory about briefings she has received from the CIA and that she really thinks it a good idea to have a ‘windfall’ tax on senior citizen’s retirement accounts are just minor spices in her poisonous stew of philosophies and practices. Don’t know what to do with Gitmo prisoners? That doesn’t bother her. Close Gitmo anyway! Full speed ahead!
More than a mistress, Madame Pelosi is the mistress of mistresses with an ego that exceeds the size of her braincase – one that led her to believe that she was entitled to a big jet so that could make her weekly trips between Washington and San Francisco without having to stop for fuel. Not a measly corporate jet like those owned by those captains of industry she so hates and publicly abuses, mind you, but one more prestigious than theirs. Bigger! Faster! Flashier! Just to avoid the annoyance of having to stop for fuel en-route. Sure! It had nothing to do with ego. Or arrogance.
Perhaps she should be called Duchess Pelosi? Because no mere Speaker of the US House of Representatives, an official elected both by home district and fellow political constituents, had EVER – in the history of this country – made such a costly demand. Moreover, like Al Gore, she ignores the larger carbon footprint left by her ego-driven demand for being “more equal than others”, in George Orwell’s words. And screw the annual cost of her flights of fancy – estimated to be about $6 Million a year. Small potatoes when compared with a $3.4 Trillion budget she’s pushing nowadays. Besides, she might ask, doesn’t it make jobs for those pilots, drivers, and others of ‘the less exalted’ who find themselves subject to her beck and whim?
Madame Pelosi has never shirked at throwing hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars at problems that have never been resolved by the mindless dumping of ever more money. The Madame has morphed good Ol’ Everett Dirkson’s observation that “ a million here and a million there, and pretty soon we’re talking about real money” into “a hundred billion here, a trillion there, and pretty soon….”
We should send Madame Pelosi home for that reason alone, but there is more. And I won’t even mention the Star-Kist Samoan operations allegations.
This economy needs jobs. Not government jobs, but jobs that actually generate the wealth needed to afford even ESSENTIAL (Constitutionally mandated) government services such as defense of the nation. Under her rule as Madame Speaker over the last year, only one element of the job market has seen an increase: GOVERNMENT WORKERS! Nearly every wage or salary earner now on unemployment worked for private industry – the source, not the drain, of wealth – while government engorged itself on the take from the no-longer working citizens.
But it’s more than the madame’s Congressional actions. By flying nonstop, she is taking money from her non-constituents (i.e., those who live BETWEEN the liberal east and west coasts) and redistributing it to those who think like she does. And then there are those who just happen to find a seat on the Madame’s plane. I wonder which airline is missing the revenue it would otherwise have seen? Has anybody checked to see if the Madame is paying the cost of transporting her ‘guests?’ Or is this all on the taxpayers’ dime? Perhaps she needs to receive the Palin treatment. Wasn’t Palin asked to reimburse her political party for the cost of even transporting her husband and daughter?
Is there any wonder that the Madame presides over an organization that has been experiencing its lowest approval rating of all time? She wants to kick out Wall Street executives for tubing their companies? Or she complains about the perks received by automotive executives who flew from Detroit to Washington for hearings? She should apply standards she energetically applies to others to herself first.
Speaker Pelosi seems to reflect the thoughts and beliefs of her constituents, so it might not be fair to abuse those citizens by demanding she not return to Congress. But those thoughts and belief systems of her constituents differ greatly from those espoused nearly everywhere else in the nation. So, even if we cannot convince her constituents to prevent her return to Congress, we MUST remove her from her incumbency as Speaker of the House!
